-Recruited as junior designer for Liption & Simmons in Chicago.
-Became graphic designer for Kim Abrams Design.
-Returned to school for Master of Fine Arts degree from the California Institute of Arts in 1987.
-There, studied experimental approaches with Ed Fella and Lorraine Wild.
-Moved to New York in 1992 and became a radical for the conservative typeface community.
-Set up his own company, "Dysmedia," in 1995.
Known for his work with experimental and distorted typefaces. His work help to typify the "new wave" of the early 1990's. Has been published in Wired Eye, Emigre, Ray Gun, and I.D. publications. His typeface Template Gothic was proclaimed by Emigre to be "the typeface of the decade."
